Organization at a glance
Disabled Peoples Welfare Society (DPWS) is an Organization of Persons with Disabilities (OPD) working in Manikganj district of Bangladesh. The organization was established in 2000. It was started by 21 persons with disabilities with support from their own initiatives. Now the organization has total 510 members; among them male 245 and female 265.
The organization implements its activities, ensuring equal participation of men and women with disabilities. According to the organization's bylaws, there are 21 members in its General Committee, and seven members are in the Executive Committee. The staff and volunteers implement the organizational activities following the directives of the General Secretary/Executive Director. Through the direct involvement of men and women with disabilities, the organization is working to promote the rights of persons with disabilities and improve their lives with support from government and non-government organizations.
Besides, the organization is striving for partnerships with mainstreaming organizations to ensure Disability Inclusion in their programs by ensuring the active and meaningful participation of persons with disabilities and providing capacity building and technical assistance.
